Beeston Hope Foodbank Collection – 26th November

We will be having our annual collection for the Beeston Hope Foodbank on 26th November at Chilwell.

The HOPE Foodbank van will be there and if you feel you can contribute, we usually collect groceries and toiletries which will be distributed by the Charity.

The Club and the Charity appreciate all donations, and the need is greater every year.

Many people are struggling, so please help if you are able.

Christmas Meal – 11th December

This year’s Christmas Meal has been booked at The Cadland on Thursday 11th December.

Details have been circulated and responses as soon as possible please.

Friendly Football

On the second Tuesday of each month, from April to November, Derby County Community Trust runs friendly, walking football games at the Derby Racecourse Ground.

These are played on top quality, Astro turf pitches, ‘to lines’, with WFA referees and great facilities.

We have been entering a team every month this year and we’re keen to encourage players who have not played league games but would like to give it a try.

The teams we have played have been very variable in standard, our highest winning score was 14-2(!), but we have also had some very close games.

We have one more game on11th November, then a winter break until the games start again in April.

If you’re interested in trying out these friendly football games, please get in touch with Paul Gillingwater at gillingwater@hotmail.com to find out more.

Arrival & Club Bibs

Please try to arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled game and remember to bring your club bibs as it simplifies team selections.

Increase in Wednesday Match Fees

At this year’s Annual General Meeting, the Santander Current Account, used for day-to-day income and expenditure,

showed an operating loss of £244.92 for the financial year 2024/25

The forecast for 2025/26 is that this loss will increase given the rising costs of pitch fees at

Chilwell, League fees, affiliation fees and the introduction of monthly bank fees for the Santander Account.

Wednesday pitch fees have remained at £3 since the formation of the Club in September 2012.

The Committee have agreed that we should continue to support our Charity activities and events such as the Club Social which are paid through the current account and have reluctantly decided to increase the Wednesday Match Fees to £4 from the 1st of January 2026 which we feel is still good value for money.

Prepayment will remain at £24 but for 6 games instead of 8 and Friday fees at Chilwell Memorial Institute will remain at £3 due to lower overheads and no League involvement.

The Club also have a reserve account with NatWest which accumulated funds when we were sponsored by Asha.

This sponsorship ceased in 2020 and the reserve fund and any profits from the current account have been used to top up the reserve.

The reserve is now used for capital expenditure such as a replacement defibrillator, first aid kits, football kits for league teams, footballs, and bibs.

HOPE FOODBANK

The food collection from last week produced 110 kg – an incredible result given last year’s collection was in the order of 80 kg.

NEWARK HOSPICE

As previously advised, over the past three years the Club has collected food and cash donations for the Hope Foodbank based in Beeston.

This is a very worthwhile charity and is probably needed this year more than ever.

As a Club we are aware that there are many charities, and unfortunately, we cannot support everyone.

The question of supporting charities was discussed at the AGM and at the subsequent Committee meeting we have decided that we will have a collection of food for the Hope Foodbank as identified above but will not collect cash donations.

Last year all players had a free January, with no subs collected.

In January 2025, all the subs collected, plus any cash donations, will go to the Newark Hospice – a charity supported by our President Ian Storey-Moore.

In future years we are looking to continue our support for charities, and we will be asking our members to nominate a local charity for consideration.
